Meet Dr. Drew Metcalfe
Dr. Drew Metcalfe, MD
Dr. Drew Metcalfe is a Board Certified plastic surgeon committed to patient-centered care with an emphasis on surgical excellence. “I want my patients to feel comfortable in their body and confident with the way they look. I seek to align their goals with the safest and most up-to-date treatment plan.” His humanistic approach and natural-appearing results have led to high levels of patient satisfaction and earned him the trust of his patients.
Dr. Metcalfe grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he developed an interest in outdoor activities such as skiing, rock climbing, camping and fishing. He then travelled to Maine to attend Bowdoin College, where he graduated cum laude with an honors thesis in molecular biology. Following his undergraduate studies, he worked as a research assistant at the University of Utah School of Medicine, studying the genetics of lung development in pre-term infants. His experience during this time enabled him to refine his research and analytical skills, and ultimately encouraged him to pursue a career in clinical medicine.
He completed medical school and a six-year integrated Plastic Surgery residency at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Under the mentorship of some of the most renowned plastic surgeons in the world, he developed proficiency in all aspects of plastic and reconstructive surgery. As a chief resident, he led the plastic surgery clinic at Grady Memorial Hospital, managing a high volume of complex traumatic wounds, cancer reconstruction, and aesthetic surgeries. During this time, he authored numerous scientific papers and book chapters, and presented his research at both national and international meetings.
He subsequently completed an additional one-year ASAPS-endorsed fellowship in aesthetic surgery with the great Dr. Foad Nahai, honing his skills in facial aesthetic procedures, body contouring, breast surgery, and non-surgical facial rejuvenation. Dr. Metcalfe believes that any surgery, reconstructive or otherwise, is ultimately aesthetic surgery—with equal care given to the restoration of both form and function.
Dr. Metcalfe specializes in a wide range of advanced plastic surgeries including facelifts, blepharoplasty, breast augmentation, body contouring, reconstructive, and minimally-invasive surgery, as well as non-surgical facial rejuvenation. He has extensive training in injectables, including Botox and fillers, with broad experience in chemical peels and laser resurfacing. Dr. Metcalfe aims to provide the the best possible care to all of his patients with the most current advancements in plastic surgery. He is adjunct clinical faculty at Emory University School of Medicine, and a member of the medical staff at Piedmont Hospital, Emory University Hospital Midtown, and Northside Hospital.
Outside of work, Dr. Metcalfe enjoys spending time with his wife Nina, a physician in the field of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, and their children Henry and Olivia. He never misses an opportunity to experience the great outdoors with his family at the lake, or even in Nina’s native Brazil, where he has spent numerous months immersed in the culture and vibrance of the country.
