Autologous Tissue Reconstruction
Autologous reconstruction involves using tissue from your own body. The most common methods utilize fat from the abdomen (DIEP flap reconstruction) or the muscles and tissue from the back (latissimus flap reconstruction). Methods performed less frequently include the TUG flap (fat and muscle from inner thigh), PAP flap (fat from the area beneath the buttock crease), and GAP flap (fat from the buttock region). During a consultation, Dr. Metcalfe and Dr. Ma will review the specifics of your case and determine which of these procedures would work best for you.
“There are no words for the positive difference you have made in my life but let me try. I have been through ten surgeries, multiple hospitalizations, wound vac treatment and three years of misery. I have been told I was no longer a candidate for breast reconstruction. I came to you because I was lucky enough that you accepted my insurance. One look and you knew I WAS a candidate for reconstruction. You took me in, did one surgery, and left me feeling human again. I now have the confidence to function normally and I owe it all to you and your staff. Dr. Ma, my family and I thank you for your unequaled expertise and effectiveness. I will recommend Peachtree Plastic Surgery to anyone that asks.”
